Losing weight doesn’t mean drastically cutting off all your meals and literally starving. If you can make some small changes in your eating habit, then you will be able to lose weight. Here are some healthy snacking habits that you can incorporate into your life.

Not skipping breakfast

You should never skip your breakfast. Eating good breakfast will give you energy for the rest of the day. It is recommended that you eat the same breakfast for a number of days every week. You need to include high energy and fibrous food in your breakfast. For example, whole grain bread or muffin, peanut butter, and banana can be a good breakfast. Whole grain food and banana will give you lots of energy without adding many calories. Whole grain foods are fibrous, so it will take a long time to digest and you won’t feel hungry for a long time.

Eat yogurt every day

According to a research conducted at the Harvard University, yogurt is good for weight loss. As it has high protein content, it will make you full. You should eat low fat and plain yogurt. Make it a habit to have a half cup of yogurt at dinner time.

Eat small portions

Most of us try to eat full plate meal. This is a very bad habit. You should reduce the portion of food you are eating. You can eat in a smaller size plate which will look good in the eye (you will assume you are having a full plate meal) and you will eat less food as well.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

Your refrigerator and pantry should be stocked up with vegetables and fruits. For a mid-day snack, you can choose carrot slices with a favorite dipping option of yours. Half of your plate during lunch and dinner must be filled with vegetables. These are fibrous and will keep you full without making you hungry for a long time. The calorie intake of these foods is also low.

Eat frequently

Make it a habit to eat something every two to three hours. This way you won’t overeat during meal time. So, choose something for mid-day and mid-afternoon snacks. You should choose from fruit, vegetables, and whole grain foods.

Drink water

There is nothing better than water. You should drink lots of water every day. If you drink a glass of water before a meal, it will keep your stomach full and you will eat less.

A crash diet program is not good for health. One reason is that you won’t get sufficient nutrients and the other reason is that you won’t be able to continue this diet program for a long time.
